Pro Tips

Test All Appliances Before Leaving

Run the fridge, stove, water heater, and AC. Problems found later are much harder to dispute.

Check the Roof for Water Damage

Climb up and look for soft spots or sealant cracks. Roof leaks are the #1 RV problem.

Record the Slide-Outs

Video each slide-out extending and retracting. Mechanical issues here are expensive to repair.

RV essentials most renters wish they'd packed

Items not included with most rental RVs. Buy or pack before pickup — onsite RV stores charge 2-3× retail.

RV Leveling Blocks
Required at most uneven campsites. Without these, your fridge stops working and sleeping is rough.
~$30-50
RV Surge Protector
Campsite power can spike and fry your RV's electronics. $300 in repairs vs. a $100 protector.
~$100-180
Water Pressure Regulator
Campsite hookups can deliver 100+ PSI. Burst RV plumbing = damage charges. Brass regulator solves it.
~$10-25
Sewer Hose Kit
Most rentals include a basic hose. A reinforced one with proper connectors prevents the worst possible mess.
~$30-60
RV-Safe Toilet Paper
Regular TP clogs the black tank. Specifically formulated to dissolve quickly. Cleaning fee if you skip this.
~$15-25
Wheel Chocks
Required when parking on any slope. Some rentals include them, many don't.
~$15-30
Collapsible Kitchenware
RV cabinets are tiny. Collapsible bowls, colanders, and pots save 70% of storage space.
~$30-60
Portable Air Compressor
RV tires need 60-80 PSI. Most gas station pumps top out at 50 PSI. A 12V compressor gets you home.
~$50-100
